How does music translate the outside world? at the concert tonight was touched and inspired by a piece based on Douglas Hofstadter’s Gödel, Escher, Bach. Bach explores the transcendence with the structure of polyphony music, Godel defends the unmechanisability of human mind , Escher expresses mathematics with abstract images.
it really speaks out my mind:
what makes human human? the limit and the extent of our own minds: how we seek self-knowledge, revise self-understanding and reconceptualise who and what we are.
like having an intellectual orgasm, a good one.
